Prof. Dr Michael Sander has been Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Therapy at Giessen University Hospital in Germany. German representative of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologists (EACTA) since 2014.
• 2014-2017 Chairman of the “Perioperative Intensive Care Medicine” section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).
• Delegate of the European Board of Anesthesiology for Germany since 2018.
• President of the UEMS Multidisciplinary Committee for Intensive Care Medicine since 2018.
• Member of the Scientific Subcommittee Intensive Care Medicine of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (ESAIC) since 2019.
• Representative for Germany and member of the ESAIC Council since January 2022.
My research interests are perioperative risk reduction strategies, haemodynamics, coagulation and patient blood management.
